SEAN JOSEPH | TROMBONE/ SUPER SPREADER

Professional experience:

Sean began his career in the Australian Army Band directly after high school and served as a professional musician for 6 years. During that time he studied with the principal trombonist of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. After he was honorably discharged from the Army, Sean completed his Bachelors of Music in Jazz Performance on trombone at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. During this time he performed all over Australia as a freelance musician, including studio and soundtrack work as well as working in pits for many musicals. Sean auditioned for a position with Princess Cruises as an onboard musician, which he subsequently won. This led to two years as a cruise ship musician, travelling and playing around the world. During this time, he met his future wife who just happened to be from the same town that he was looking at to complete graduate studies. Sean eventually moved to Rochester N.Y. and completed his Master of Music Education from the Eastman School of Music. During graduate studies, Sean was hired as a full time music teacher for the Rush-Henrietta Central School District where he has worked for over 20 years. During his time in Rochester, Sean has played in many different professional settings. He has played in bands for Chaka Khan, Randy Brecker, Ada Rovatti, Allen Vizutti, Eddie Daniels, Eric Marienthal, Wayne Bergeron and many others. Sean currently plays lead trombone in the Russell Scarborough Big Band and various wedding and party bands in the Rochester, Syracuse and Buffalo areas. Sean currently teaches A.P. Music Theory, Music Theory I, Piano classes and directs the R-H Jazz Ensemble. With his wife, Kristi, he has Baden who is currently studying computer science at R.I.T and Kylie who is a Sophomore at Pittsford Sutherland H.S. He also shares the house with Duma, the 150lb Rhodesian Ridgeback.
